The IDEX Fellowship

IDEX Accelerator is a career launch-pad for aspiring social enterprise practitioners. The 6 month program offers intense field experience and leadership training curriculum that equips fellows with the equivalent of 2 years marketable work experience that’s relevant to social enterprise employers.

IDEX hand selects growing social enterprises across India that are seeking new, bright talent. Fellows gain over 1,000 hours of real work experience in emerging markets on initiatives impacting strategy, management, research & development, operations and sustainability. Social enterprises assign fellows a staff mentor to guide the fellow’s assignment and provide management support.

IDEX offers monthly capacity-building webinars and workshops led by industry professionals and academic advisors to add a level of intensity to the Accelerator.  Practitioners will lead fellows through discussions on current topics impacting the industry such as non-profit management, measuring impact and fundraising.

One of the cornerstones of the IDEX Accelerator is the tight network of support and friendship that is cultivated among the fellows themselves. At the beginning of the program, fellows are placed in pairs in enterprises. Additionally, fellows are placed in groups of 4 or 6 to form supportive, educational peer communities for the duration of the program.

IDEX will help you showcase your field experience to future employers. The Accelerator requires fellows to build a portfolio comprised of monthly field reports, case studies and a final impact report which reflects the fellow’s immersion and learning experience. Academic and professional advisors offer guidance and feedback to fellows to ensure their writing samples will be translated effectively to employers.

IDEX assesses fellow’s success of the program based on qualitative and quantitative surveys from the fellow’s enterprise mentor, cohort team members and academic advisors. Fellows receive feedback on an on-going basis to help them identify areas of strength and further development. Upon completion of the program, fellows must complete an exit interview with a seasoned industry professional. It’s our goal for fellows to receive referrals, search tips and employment recommendations from the exit interviewer- but it’s up to the fellow to convince them.

After successful completion of the field immersion, program curriculum modules and exit interview, fellows will earn a Professional Certification in Social Enterprise from U.S. Graduate School- Monterey Institute of International Studies ( with endorsement from Gray Matters Capital, an industry leader and well recognized impact investor in the social enterprise sector.

IDEX’s Common ThreadX portal is a supportive community of like-minded alumni and fellows who are united by their passion for social impact. The portal provides private access to careers, consulting/research opportunities, and mentoring support. Alumni will also have access to our excusive IDEX 2.0 crowd-funding platform where they can raise money and gain support for their own project pilots, product prototype or social venture!
